Here's Abby playing with a brand new toy she received from TLC! Some birds require time to get used to a new toy, but generally I can place one directly in her cage, and she'll go right for it. This was no exception. This sequence shows Abby the first minute or so with this new toy. She hissed, raised her crest, and leaned over to happily take a bite of the bark. She loves to strip bark, so she'll do that before she'll start destroying the toy. The last picture shows her with two new toys, both from TLC!

It can get expensive to keep a cockatoo or other large bird in toys. They need to have wood to chew! There is no getting around it. You must be prepared to supply your large bird with plenty of things for him to chew and destroy. Check out these fine links for inexpensive ways to keep your parrot happy!
