Here are the long promised photos of Simon and the playpen I had built by a local acrylics company, Cope Plastics. It is a larger copy of the one that I originally bought with Simon, that fits on the cage that now belongs to Pelirojo. I like the acrylic design so well, that I really didn't want to buy anything else. I could not find a playpen like that one anywhere in stores or catalogs, so I got the idea to have one made. Cope was great to work with. They gave me a price, originally about $100 less than what the first place would have charged. Then, they told me how easy it would be to put it together myself if they just made the parts, and it would cost much less. All told, this cost a little more than $50. It's very easily washed, most poops slide right off the acrylic bars, and I feel it keeps the area cleaner!

I went back to Cope a couple of years ago (around 2005) as some of the bars of Simon's playpen broke off. However, they have become such a big company now, that they don't do small orders. To make a replacement playpen, they would have charged several hundred dollars. :(
